Tip:

Organizational (org) charts are pretty much impossible to find, especially free and reliable org charts of for-profit companies.  Companies have no incentive to share their org chart because disclosing it might weaken their competitive position.

  • To understand a public company's major operational units, look at its Annual Report (10-K).

  • Analyze a company's About page, its News/Press releases, and its Job ads for clues about leaders, changes in leadership, and reporting lines.

  • Students doing educational, non-commercial research for course credit could ask a company for its org chart, but students should talk to their instructor before contacting a company.
