What can I access? 


Access is generally available to all users. Registration or account creation might be required to access.

For commercial websites, the UCI Libraries do not offer premium memberships or subscriptions.

 


Access is available to all users ON the UCI campus and at GML.

OFF campus access requires Authorized Affiliates to log into the VPN with their active UCInetID and password. Authorized Affiliates are users with an active UCInetID and password, i.e. current UCI students, faculty, and staff.

These resources are not licensed by the UCI Libraries, but librarians occasionally promote them when they are relevant for certain types of research.

Access is available only for Authorized Affiliates, who are also affiliated with the Paul Merage School of Business.

 

The resources are limited to select UCI populations, based on the user’s status, e.g. current UCI Faculty or PhD students. Please refer to the UCI Libraries for access instructions.

Examples for why content may be limited include: a vendor set restrictions on who may access their information; alternatively, information may be sensitive, identifying, or embargoed;

GuideStar specializes in nonprofit company intelligence.  It covers 2.7 million nonprofits and it features: Current financial data, IRS forms, and visualizations of financial trends for nonprofits.  A directory to search for nonprofits by size, cause, and location.  A directory to search for people in leadership roles at nonprofits.

National Center for Charitable Statistics

Geography: US 

The national repository of data on the nonprofit sector in the United States.  NCCS builds compatible national, state, and regional databases and develops uniform standards for reporting on the activities of charitable organizations.

Find information about a tax-exempt organization’s federal tax status and filings.

 

The Nonprofit Network

From the Center for Public Integrity.  Nonprofits must report money they give to other nonprofits on the public portion of their tax returns. This grant-funded resource mined 850,000+ tax forms  filed electronically since 2010 from 250,000+ givers.

From the Union of International Associations (UIA).  Detailed information on  global civil society bodies and networks (organization contact details, origins, relations, members, bibliography, biographies, events, statistics, etc.)

 


CA Registry of Charitable Trusts
Access:  Public
Geography: CA

Entities that solicit donations in California have to register with the state Attorney General.  You can search the registry by name to verify whether a charitable organization or fundraiser has complied with the AG's registration and reporting requirements.
