Animals and Nature

Biodiversity Heritage Library - these are fully scanned books with text and images, not just an image repository. You'll need to actually scan through book pages to find images. Some books will obviously have more images than others.
- Lots of pictures and information. Try browsing by sub-collections if you're overwhelmed. I especially like the "Art of Science" collection (lots of older naturalist artwork and drawings), Floral Mania (a curated collection of beautiful and unusual plant specimens), and Extinct Species.
Encyclopedia of Life - partners with Biodiversity Heritage Library (above), this is primarily just images. Includes photography and drawings.
NYPL "Pictures of Science" - scanned pages from books that feature scientific illustration from over 700 years of publishing
