UC Open Access Policy

The UC Academic Senate passed a UC Open Access Policy on July 24, 2013 that ensures that future research articles authored by UC faculty will be made openly available to the public at no charge.  The UCI Libraries are taking an active role in ushering in this new era by implementing new library services in support of the policy, educating faculty, and helping them share their research.

“Predatory journals and publishers are entities that prioritize self-interest at the expense of scholarship and are characterized by false or misleading information, deviation from best editorial and publication practices, a lack of transparency, and/or the use of aggressive and indiscriminate solicitation practices.” -- Predatory journals: no definition, no defence
