An excellent (and brief) paper supported by the International Association for Dance Medicine & Science (IADMS) that covers the history of somatics and dance, gives multiple examples of the practice, examples of different types of somatic practices, and a list of basic resources.

This is an excellent article from the very first issue of the Journal of Dance and Somatic Practices (PEER-REVIEWED!) that provides a good history of dance and somatics, many of the early leaders in the field, different types of practices, AND a very interesting somatic genealogy tree showing how many of the practices are related to one another.
