Online Resources (in Korean) by Type

Kyobo e-Library Access to an increasing number of Korean e-books. Currently, it is compatible with these Web browsers only: Chrome, Safari, Edge (Internet Explorer is not supported). This service is also optimized for Windows 7,8, and 10 OS. Sign-up is needed at the first time of use using UCI email account. Kyobo app needs to be downloaded and installed for reading e-books offline.
One can access the e-library only through IE (Edge in IE mode) or Chrome, or through Mobile app (look for UCiLib under Kyobo Book).
KRpia 한국의 지식콘텐츠 Provides access to a broad coverage of primary resources on Korean Studies.
RISS International Provides online access to a union catalog of millions of books, journals, and non-book materials (e.g. CD-ROM, video) in hundreds of academic libraries in Korea. Full-text may be obtained through our subscriptions or InterLibrary Loan requests.
Digitized Collections of the National Library of Korea Digitized NLK materials of various types and formats, including maps, gazettes, music scores, government documents, manuscripts, classics, novels, scholarly monographs, textbooks, journals, newspapers, and dissertations. Some materials are recent publications under strict copyright or other protections, and may only be accessed from a single dedicated workstation in the East Asian Collection, located on the first floor of Langson Library. Only available via Internet Explorer.

HathiTrust Provides access to an increasing number of Eastern and Western language materials. Institutional login (i.e., UCI NetID and Password) is highly recommended for full access.

DBpia Provides access to all the current and back issues of thousands of Korean scholarly journals in various subject areas, including sociology, literature, economics & business, medical science, humanities, theology, law & administration, arts, engineering, natural science, and education. Searchable by title, author, keyword, journal title and publisher. There are two new functions on the full-text page. ‘AI Chat’, and ‘English Translation.’
Korean Studies Information Service System (KISS) Provides full-text access to thousands of scholarly journals from Korea. The database has a wide subject coverage, including social science, humanities, medicine, pharmacy, engineering, natural science, physical education and art, linguistics, agriculture, and oceanography.
Kyobo Scholar an online academic service that provides Korean academic journals, conference processing, and professional magazines, and is an exclusive service platform that serves about 1,500 journals.

Korean Citation Index Developed by the National Research Foundation of Korea, it indexes thousands of Korean journals and millions of Korean journal articles. Some articles are available in full text.
Korea Science A reference linking platform of 466 Korea journals in Science & Technology from 1949 publication year. Users can access to abstracts or full texts.
KPM (Choson Ollon Chongbo Kiji) It provides North Korea's newspapers and journals. It provides all the articles and thesis of 15 journals, including 'Chollima' and 'Economic Research'.

신문 = Newspaper (1883-1966) Digitized News Archives provided by the National Library of Korean for pre-1960 news articles.
Korea Integrated News Database System (KINDS) The most comprehensive full-text archive (1990-current) for Korean news, operated by the Korea Press Foundation. Contents include major, local, internet, and industry newspapers, magazines, and TV reports since 1990. These are fully searchable and available in full-text online. Four major daily newspapers—Kyŏnghyang 京鄉, Tonga 東亞, Sŏul 서울, and Han’guk 한국(1960 to 1989) are provided in pdf format, as are two newspapers dating from the period of Japanese rule—Tongnip sinmun 獨立新聞 독립신문 and Taehan maeil sinbo 大韓每日新報 대한매일신보.
Naver News Library (1920-1999) Provides fulltext search and access to four newspaper archives, including Kyŏnghyang Sinmun (京鄕新聞, 1946-1999), Tonga Ilbo (東亞日報, 1920-1999), Maeil Kyŏngje (每日經濟, 1966-1999), Chosun Ilbo (朝鮮日報, 1920-1999), and Hankyore 한겨레 (1988-1999). Browsable by date as well.

Online Archiving & Searching Internet Sources OASIS is pursuing to collect and preserve online digital resources, especially news articles related to important issues of Korea.

Asian Film Online Offers a selection of narrative feature films, documentaries and shorts curated by film scholars and critics, offering perspectives and insights onto themes relevant across Asia, including modernity, globalization, female agency, social and political unrest, and cultural and sexual identity. This collection provides a view on Asian culture as seen through the lens of the independent Asian filmmaker.

MBC Archive includes hundreds of thousands of TV programs, including daily news but excluding TV drama, from Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC). The year coverage is from 1961 onward. An activated UCInetID is required for access.

Online Archiving & Searching Internet Sources With the advent of the Digital Era, the record of human intellectual activity has rapidly transformed from paper to digital forms. By collecting and preserving digital intellectual heritage at the national level, OASIS (Online Archiving &Searching Internet Sources: OASIS) aims to pass down digital intellectual heritage as educational and research resources to future generations. After being operated on a trial basis in January 2004, OASIS then became a standing project pursued in earnest by the National Library of Korea began pursuing to collect and preserve online digital resources since 2005.
Korean Film Youtube Channel (by KOFA) Users can watch 190 Korean films without any kind of restrictions. It keeps growing its available films.
