How to use the Virtual Private Network (VPN) to access licensed library resources off campus.

Use the VPN

If this is your first time using the VPN, please follow the instructions on the Set Up page for your operating system:


If you've already downloaded, installed, and properly configured the VPN (i.e., used the Test My Connection button and got a message that you currently have a UC Irvine IP address, please follow these steps to use the VPN:

  1. Open/launch Cisco Secure Client. [VPN address (vpn.uci.edu) should be prepopulated.]
  2. Select Connect. [Group setting (UCIFull) should be preselected.]
  3. Enter your UCInetID and password and select Login.
  4. Accept Duo notification.
  5. Select Accept to close banner window.
  6. When finished, open/launch Cisco Secure Client and select Disconnect.
