Pro Tip: Why research companies, industries, and trends before an interview?

If you understand the essentials about an employer, including how their industry and the world at large influence them, then you'll be a stand-out candidate!  You'll be able to:

  • effectively answer questions like, "What do you know about our company?"
  • prepare several insightful questions to ask your potential employer.
  • act more confident during interview conversations, because you've built up your expertise.
  • demonstrate your organizational skills by brining a portfolio of printed interview-prep documents* that you downloaded from the UCI Libraries.

If you get nervous during a difficult question, you can say, "Please give me a moment to check my notes."  Then use those seconds looking at your notes to take a deep breath and calm your nerves.
