Overview

"Web accessibility: Essential for some, helpful for all." (W3C)

LibGuides are essential tools for libraries. They are used in reference interactions, serve as instructional and outreach tools, and provide critical access to our collections. As a web tool, we must ensure that our LibGuides comply with standards and guidelines for web accessibility so that everyone can interact with and benefit from the content shared.

While Springshare has incorporated many features to make LibGuides accessible, there are still actions we, as LibGuide owners/editors, must take. This guide provides many resources to help you learn about accessibility best practices, as well as an Accessibility Checklist to help you evaluate the current state of your guide(s), and make the necessary updates.

Support

In addition to the resources within this guide, we’re available to help via email or one-on-one consultations. You can reach the LibGuides & Databases A-Z Working Group at: libguides@exchange.uci.edu.
