This is an optional tool that you can add to your guide. It is not required.
Sharing the correct pronunciation of your name can help others learn how to pronounce it properly. This can help create a sense of inclusivity and belonging, and help ensure that everyone feels acknowledged and respected. It also helps reduce anxiety, awkwardness, and misunderstandings that can come up around being uncertain how to pronounce someone’s name.
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) and the Office of the Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning (OVPTL) have partnered to bring NameCoach name pronunciation software to UC Irvine.
Faculty and staff at UC Irvine can use NameCoach to create an audio recording of their name, which can be shared in email signatures, on staff and student group website directories, and any other location where a link can be embedded.
