English and Comparative Literature: Primary and Full Text Sources

Information resources for the UCI community interested in English language, literature, and literary criticism.

Welcome to the Primary Sources and Full Text Literature Section of the English Literature LibGuide. In this section, you can access primary source material relevant to the study of English, as well as full text literature sourced from a variety of databases. A primary source is a document or physical object written or created during the time under study. Secondary sources analyze and interpret primary sources. Primary sources include:

ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS: Diaries, speeches, manuscripts, letters, interviews, news film footage, autobiographies, official records

CREATIVE WORKS: Poetry, drama, novels, music, art

RELICS OR ARTIFACTS: Pottery, furniture, clothing, buildings

To navigate the Primary Sources and Full Text Literature Selection, please refer to the tab's drop down function to select the subject matter of the primary sources or literary genre that interests you. Finally, be sure to refer to, and consult with, the Special Collections and Archives division of the UCI Libraries for assistance with the many fine primary source collections that may benefit your research.
