Books are valuable resources in the humanities, offering in-depth perspectives on emerging issues and scholarly debates. Academic books may be monographs—written by one author on a focused topic—or edited volumes with multiple scholars contributing different viewpoints. Most are published by university or independent academic presses and go through peer review. For undergraduate research, you don’t need to read an entire book—start with the Table of Contents to find relevant chapters. Bibliographies are also useful for discovering additional sources.
