Interlibrary Loan

The Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service enables UC students, faculty, and staff to borrow materials from other libraries that are not available at the UCI Library. Please check Library Search Catalog before requesting an ILL.  The MELVYL Request icon is the fastest and easiest way to submit ILL requests from other UC campuses and his highly encouraged - this is found in most databases and in the MELVYL catalog.  The following forms are for materials not noted in MELVYL and for which a MELVYL Request link is not included:

Finding Books

Usually patents are identified by a citation or a citing reference or by using one of the many patent indexes or databases arranged by the jurisdiction that has issued it.  Books about how to use and find patents, how to apply for one, and general information can be found in Library Search or MELVYL by searching under the subject headings:
  • subject - patents
  • Patent laws and legislation - United States
  • Patents
  • Patent and government-developed inventions - United States
  • Patent extensions - United States
  • For Trademarks, it is recommended to search under:
  • Trademarks
  • Business names
