Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
During the 2023-2024 academic year, UCI hosted a series of events and programs around the theme of "Free Speech." This initiative was designed to promote deeper understanding and dialogue around ideas of free expression and academic freedom.
