Finding patents of a specific product

If you are looking for the patent of a known product, and that product has a website, you can often find patent information on that product's website. Here are some places to look:

  • "About" information on the product
  • Specification (Spec) sheets
  • Prescribing information
  • Marketing information

Use CTRL + F to search in webpages or PDF documents for the word "patent."

  • Easy way to search for patents by company and see patents in the context of company information
  • Locate CPC codes for specific patents
  • Search by company (assignee), inventor, topic, etc. 
  • Monitor an invention’s influence by using the “Cited Patent Search” tool to find patents that cite a given patent or patents.
