International Programs

Offers a variety of programs for international students, including (1) English language and professional content instruction, (2) comprehensive preparation for successful undergraduate and graduate studies, and (3) a wide variety of support services, including housing and organized cultural activities, to foster international students’ adjustment to and competence in participating in American life.

Staff in the Activities Department may offer students information to help them with cultural adjustment and navigating living in the Irvine area, such as:

  • How to use the OC’s public transportation system and where to buy a bus or shuttle pass
  • The application process for getting a California driver’s license
  • Suggestions and directions for finding local banks and cell phone options
  • Direct help with getting to a shopping center, local attractions, or even a doctor
  • Weekly emails that highlight local events, fairs, and seasonal things to do around Irvine

The International Programs Activities Department is located in University Extension Building D #234.  Students may also contact the ESL Office, in University Extension Building I #238, for additional information and referrals.

International Center

The International Center is located in the Student Center.

The International Center

Serves the international community at UCI through advising, immigration services, programming, advocacy, and outreach.  Some of the many programs offered by the International Center are as follows:

  • I-STEPS – International Students Transitioning to Educational and Personal Success:  A course for new undergraduate international students.
