A UCI library card is necessary for checking out materials. If you are a member of the public, you can purchase a 12-month libary card for $80. Since library cards are expensive, another option is get a (free) library card from the Orange County Public Library and/or Newport Beach Public Library. You can then request our books through your public library using a service called interlibary loan (ILL). Contact your local public library for more details.

You can also have your parent or guardian sign up for a  free UCI library card if he/she fits within any of these categories:

  • Students, faculty, and staff from other UC campuses
  • UCI Extension students
  • Immediate family of UC faculty and staff residing at the same address (must provide proof of address)
  • Members of UC campus Alumni Associations
  • Full-time faculty and librarians from accredited institutions of higher education in California
