Comparative Literature: African American Lit Crit

Part of the Black Studies Center. IIBP includes current and retrospective bibliographic citations and abstracts from scholarly journals and newsletters from the United States, Africa and the Caribbean, and full-text coverage of core Black Studies periodicals. Coverage is international in scope and multidisciplinary, spanning cultural, economic, historical, religious, social, and political issues of vital importance to the Black Studies discipline.

Black Studies Center combines several resources: Schomburg Studies on the Black Experience, International Index to Black Periodicals (IIBP), historical black newspapers, and the Black Literature Index.

Includes international coverage of materials in the areas of literature, languages, linguistics, and folklore from over 4,000 journals, series, books, essay collections, working papers, proceedings, dissertations, and bibliographies.

A good place for the beginning researcher, this database provides commentary on books and plays by the scholars of the day. Captures literary criticism and reception from when a work (play, novel, poem, literary work) was published to the present day.
