Tracking Articles

Finding Articles by an ICS Faculty Member

  1. Identify the faculty member whose article you are seeking - http://www.ics.uci.edu/faculty/
  2. Determine what database covers the subject of their work
  3. Consult the database by author's name, match up the elements - author's affiliation, source, full citation
  4. Read the abstract
  5. Use the UC eLinks to find full article
  6. Does UCI have article or access to it?
  7. If not, what your options to get it?
  8. Remember that REQUEST activates ILL request
  9. How can you cite the article?  What citation style are you using?
  10. How many references does the author cite?
  11. Has the article been cited?  If so where?
  12. What subject headings or descriptors describe the subject of the article?
