Quick Tips on accessing articles from the UCI Libraries

Last updated: August 16, 2017

  1. If you are connecting from UCI Campus or UC Irvine Health, you automatically have full access to the library resources and don’t need to take any steps below. For those of you with laptops, click here to Register your device for UCI’s wireless access on campus,  Click here for UC Irvine Health’s wireless internet access.

  2. If you haven’t connected to the UCI Libraries from off-campus before, the Connect from off-Campus Software VPN tutorials can help you.  The WebVPN does not require users to download additional software, but you will have problems accessing PubMed@UCI and most of the medical resources and databases. Therefore, you must download, install, and configure the software VPN before visiting PubMed@UCI and resources such as Access Medicine and the Bates’ Videos.

  3. When configuring the VPN software, be sure to change the default “Group" from WebVPN to UCIFULL. Once you login and connect to VPN with your UCInetID, you have full access to all the UCI Libraries online resources with a few exceptions from the Law Library.

  4. Always use PubMed@UCI on the Grunigen Medical Library website to search for medical literature.  PubMed@UCI provides access to the  . The UC-eLinks icon is found in each abstract display format of a citation. It provides direct links to a full-text article if available, to the UCI Library Search for library’s holdings availability, and to the UC-eLinks Request It for items that are not available at UCI.
