The Bioethics Research Library at Georgetown University began as a few shelves of the Kennedy Institute of Ethics’ scholars’ books. As the interdisciplinary field of bioethics grew, so did the Library which now houses over 300,000 books, journal articles, audiovisuals, and archival materials on a wide range of topics.

The Library's databases on bioethics literature, organizations, and syllabi are publicly accessible and contain many links to full-text materials.

When we speak abstractly about death and dying, what are we really talking about? To date, so much of our medical discourse suggests that whether we die – whether we must die – is an unsettled matter. Let’s assume we do and go from there. In this way, we can get to more interesting and salient questions like, how might I die? When? What does my death have to do with my life? And whose life is this anyway? Let’s explore these questions and others together.
