CSE (formerly CBE) is the citation style used by the Council of Science Editors. It is most frequently used in physical and life sciences, as well as in mathematics.
The current version of the CSE style is published in Scientific Style and Format: The CSE Manual for Authors, Editors, and Publishers (8th ed., 2014). The style rules are subject to change with every new edition, so always make sure you are working with the most up-to-date version.
Note: there are many different citation styles used in scientific study. Citation styles may vary by scientific discipline and even by academic journal. Be sure to check with your Instructor to determine which style you should use.
