Select Books

Some of the main books about Music and Dance can be found in this list.

Listen

Naxos Music Library * allows you to listen to over 100,000 music albums. It runs the range of 12th century chant to contemporary, Grammy nominated recordings from the past year. Dancers might be most interested in the many different pieces they can use to set their own choreography, such as classic Romantic ballets or find a new contemporary composition that speaks directly to you.

Other music streaming databases are available as well.

Research

Oxford Music Online * should be used to find factual information about composers and musicians. Think of it as music's version of the International Encyclopedia of Dance.

RILM Abstracts of Music Literature * will help you find scholarly articles on music and dance, particularly ballet.

Other scholarly music databases are available on the Music Research Articles page.
