Case Studies

Case studies can be a lucrative revenue stream for the institutions that produce and sell them, so the popular case study vendors prohibit libraries from purchasing and sharing cases.

  • These vendors include: Columbia, Darden, Harvard Business Publishing (more info below), IMD, Insead, Ivey, MIT, Northwestern, Sage, Stanford, Thunderbird, USC, etc.

You must buy your own copy of a case study or use a course packet if your program administrators created one for your class.

Harvard Business Review (HBR) Cases, Modules, & Core Curriculum Articles
Harvard requires each person buys a license for any Case, Module, or Curriculum Article they want to read.  You must buy your own copy of materials that are sold via the HBR store or use course packets (if available).

  • The Journals and News tabs link to the Harvard Business Review Magazine; users may freely access magazine articles.  HBR magazine occasionally publishes case study articles, but these are typically only 5-10 pages long, and they are different than the cases sold via the HBR store.
